Who we are

My Story Nowis a service operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME - placeholder TO BE FILLED IN BY JAMES, e.g. “NB Performance Pty Ltd trading as My Story Now”]. We turn your spoken or written life stories into a beautifully crafted memoir or autobiography. We can be contacted at hello@my-story-now.com.

What we collect

When you use our service, we collect:

• Your name, email address, and date of birth
• Payment information (processed by Stripe - we never see or store your card details)
• Everything you choose to tell us during the interview process: family details, life events, health history, personal stories, beliefs, relationships, and anything else you share
• Audio recordings of your interview answers, and transcripts of those recordings
• Photos you upload to be included in your book
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, and how you use the service

How we use it

We use your information to:

• Create your memoir or autobiography
• Provide customer support
• Send you transactional emails (sign-in links, payment confirmations, book updates)
• Improve our service

We use OpenAI's Whisper API to transcribe your audio recordings, and Anthropic's Claude API to help craft your book. These services process your data on our behalf and have their own privacy policies.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data to anyone, ever.
• We don't share your data with marketing or advertising companies.
• We don't use your stories to train AI models without your explicit permission.
• We don't publish any part of your book or interview content publicly without your express written consent.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an active account with us, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you return. You can request deletion of all your data at any time by emailing hello@my-story-now.com.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights including:

• The right to access the data we hold about you
• The right to correct inaccurate data
• The right to request deletion
• The right to data portability (we can export your data as JSON)
• The right to object to certain processing
• The right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

To exercise any of these, email hello@my-story-now.comand we'll respond within 30 days.

Security

We take security seriously. Your data is:

• Encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
• Stored in secure databases with row-level access controls
• Protected by authenticated access - only you and our authorised team can view your data
• Backed up regularly

Children

My Story Now is not intended for use by children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We'll update this policy as our service evolves. We'll email you if we make material changes that affect how we handle your data.
